Vahan Mardirossian

Chief Conductor

Born in Armenia, Vahan Mardirossian graduated with distinction from the Paris Conservatoire and enjoys a distinguished career as both a pianist and a conductor. He is currently Chief Conductor of City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, Music Director of the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia and Chief Conductor of The Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice. From 2010 to 2019 he was the Principal Conductor of the Caen Symphony Orchestra in France and in 2011 Music Director of the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia. His engagements as guest conductor include the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville in Spain, Philharmonie Südwestfalen, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sanremo Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Symphony Orchestra "Russian Philharmonic" and the Bogota Symphony Orchestra. He is also a frequent guest conductor in Japan where he has conducted the NHK Symphony Orchestra, and the Japan, New-Japan, Tokyo and Kansai Philharmonic Orchestras. Vahan Mardirossian has collaborated with many world class soloists including Augustin Dumay, Lars Vogt, Richard Galliano, Sergei Babayan, Ivry Gitlis, Viktoria Postnikova and Akiko Suwani. He has performed as a soloist under the baton of Kurt Masur, Paavo Järvi and Yuri Ahronovitch. In 2025 his recording of the complete Beethoven sonatas for violin and piano with Japanese violinist Teiko Maehashi was released on the Sony Music Label.
