Samuel Bin was born in Hong Kong and began piano and violin studies at an early age with Tsui Lap-li, Poon Ting-leung and Jason Ho. He has won several prizes at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and at the Hong Kong Youth Violin Competition. In 2009 he graduated with a Diploma in violin performance and a Bachelor of Music degree from The Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts (HKAPA). His teachers include Ho Hong-ying (violin) and Michael Ma and Ray Wang (chamber music). He also studied conducting, choral conducting and music therapy and holds a DipABRSM from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. During his studies he was selected to perform in masterclasses by Lin Cho-liang, Anne Shih and Charles Castleman. In 2006 he performed with the pianist Lang Lang as a member of the Chinese University Students' Symphony Orchestra. Besides performing, Samuel Bin teaches at the Yip's Children's Choral and Performing Arts Centre and the Yao Jue Music Academy among others. He has been a member of City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong since 2009.
