
Chan Wai-bun

Chan Wai-bun was born in Hong Kong and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He received a scholarship from Chung Chi College to study with Dan Reinker at the Eastern Music Festival in North Carolina. In 2014 he received the Guildhall Trust Scholarship to study with Matthew Jones at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where he graduated with a Master of Music degree in viola performance. In London Chan Wai-bun performed with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. He has performed in masterclasses by Robert Vernon, Paul Coletti and Paul Silverthorne and has received coaching from the Chilingirian Quartet, Endellion Quartet and the Shanghai Quartet. On return to Hong Kong Chan Wai-bun entered The Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts to study with Professor Ivan Chan as a visiting student. He became a member of City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong in 2018.
