Michelle
Abbott has combined a successful career of performing with active
teaching in Hong Kong, her home for over 10 years. She is currently principal
harpist of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and is an invited performer
for special events in Hong Kong. She is also harp instructor at the Chinese
University of Hong Kong, the Baptist University of Hong Kong and the Hong
Kong Academy of Performing Arts and has given Master classes in Ohio,
USA. She received her harp training at the University of South Florida
under Ms. Kathryn Case Holm of the Florida Orchestra and through the Cleveland
Institute of Music with Alice Chalifoux, former principal harpist of the
Cleveland Orchestra. She also received instruction from Anne Hobson Pilot
of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Sarah Bullen of the Chicago Symphony
Orchestra and Sebastian Lipman, a former member of the Berlin Philharmonic
Orchestra. During her time in the US, Michelle performed with the Cleveland
Institute of Music Harp Ensemble which toured the state, the Cleveland
Chamber Orchestra, the Cleveland Requiem Orchestra and the Cleveland Choral
Society. She is a member of the American Harp Society.
