GARY NGAN
Gary Ngan was born in Hong Kong and studied violin under Charles Castleman, Ani Kavafian, Beedarn Chao, Mikhail Kopelman, Igor Petrushevski, Lin Yaoji and Zvi Zeitlin and chamber music with members of the Cleveland, Guarneri, Keller, Juilliard and Takacs String Quartets. He received his Performer’s Certificate and a Bachelor of Music degree with high distinction from the Eastman School of Music, the Advanced Certificate from the Royal Schools College of Music, a FTCL and AMusTCL from the Trinity College in London and a Master of Music Degree from Yale School of Music. Gary has won many competitions including the Barbara Fei Instrumental Competition and the Sandra Wagstaff String Concerto Competition of the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Festival Compeitions and the Eastman School of Music Concerto Competition. He gave his Hong Kong recital debut at City Hall in 2003 and has also made solo appearances with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. In the USA Gary has served as the concertmaster of the Brighton Symphony Orchestra and the Eastman Philharmonia. He has performed with the Asian Youth Orchestra on tour, at Carnegie Hall’s New York String Orchestra Seminar and at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage Conservatory Project. Gary joined the CCOHK as First Associate Leader in 2010. |
