Issue No. 47

Director's Notes

Dear Friends,

Last week we enjoyed the opportunity to perform with violinist Loh Jun-hong – one of Singapore’s promising young talents. I look forward to following his career in the coming years. Our concert in Sha Tin was also the first time the CCOHK performed with the new acoustic shell there – very nice acoustic! Here are some photos of the concert:

Coming up next week we have the great honour of working with Dame Emma Kirkby on 6 May. She will be performing works by Bach and Mozart on the programme. This concert has been almost 8 years in the making - Dame Emma’s debut here in Hong Kong is a long awaited one! In addition Dame Emma Kirkby will be involved in two outreach activities- a fund-raising dinner for Friends of the British Council at the Helena May on 7 May, 6:30pm and a masterclass on early vocal music at CR1, Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 8 May from 10am. The masterclass is filling fast – book as soon as possible to secure a seat by calling 2864 2154 / info@ccohk.com

I know there are many music lovers who are looking forward to Dame Emma Kirkby’s Hong Kong visit. I look forward to seeing you all at one or more of these events next week!

Best wishes,

Leanne Nicholls
