Singaporean violinist Loh Jun-hong showed a prodigious talent from a young age and was admitted to the gifted programme at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 1999. Since then he has won more than ten awards, notably First Prize in the National Piano and Violin Competition in Singapore, Third Prize at the 13th Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition in Fermo, Italy, and Fifth prize at the Canetti International Violin Competition in Turkey. Despite gaining a place at the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School in the UK, Jun-hong chose to study with Professor Qian Zhou at Singapore's Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, graduating with First-Class Honours, aged 19. Loh Jun-hong has been invited to perform for several VIP events in Singapore, including the ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting, President Nathan's hosting of HM Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh's visit, and for a meeting of the Heads of Mission. He has also been the featured soloist at the closing concert of the 2007 Singapore Arts Festival with the Singapore Festival Orchestra and in 2008 with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Loh Jun-hong has performed at masterclasses with international artists such as Pinchas Zukerman, Cho-Liang Lin, Hamao Fujiwara, Natalia Boyarsky, Midori, and Simon Fischer. He has given recitals at the Royal College of Music in London, the Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore, and performed at Festivals in France, Italy and Japan. He plays on a Petrius Guaneri violin on generous loan to him from the Rin Collection.
