On 19 January 2010 the CCOHK staged TANGO PASSION, an evening of tango music and dance with guest artists Daniel Binelli, Polly Ferman, Pilar Alvarez, Claudio Hoffman and German Guiterrez. Here are some comments from audience members who attended the concert:

The guest conductor and performers integrated perfectly with the chamber orchestra. The dancers expressed the music brilliantly in visual form, with fantastic details in beats, steps and movements. A feast for both the eyes and the ears. Great show - unforgettable!

This Tango Passion concert was very different to other “ordinary” concerts I have attended - especially Binelli the bandoneonist – he is extremely skilled and talented and was the soul of the concert. Alvarez and Hoffmann’s dancing was a masterpiece. In Piazzolla’s Oblivion I could feel the sadness expressed on the faces of the dancers. Their performance truly captured the mood and meaning of the music.

The seductively-set stage bathed in hues of cyan and scarlet provided the perfect foil for a mesmerizing performance steeped in the hypnotic rhythms and musicality of the Americas. The arresting combination of sophisticated tango dancers, evocative bandoneon and piano with sensitive accompaniment by the orchestra was simply stupendous. Kudos to CCOHK for showcasing this wonderful artform.
