Emily
Lin was
born in the USA and joined the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong in
2002. She studied flute in Los Angeles with James Walker, Anne Zentner
and Roger Stevens. She received her Bachelor of Music, Masters of Music
and Doctor of Musical Arts in flute performance from the University of
Southern California. From 1992 to 2000 she was awarded a scholarship at
the University of Southern California. Her first major appearance was
performing principal flute in the Youth Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, New
York at very young age. She performed as principal flute between 1992-2000
with American Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Mehli Mehta and Zubin Mehta.
Emily has toured Europe as a soloist in 1992 and was awarded the arts
recognition in the national talent search in flute performance in the
USA in the same year. She was also awarded scholarships from the Los Angeles
Philharmonic Orchestra in 1992, 1994 and 1995. Emily is currently on the
flute faculty of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Chinese
University of Hong Kong.
