Chona
Placente Noble has served as Principal Second Violin of the San Miguel
Philharmonic Orchestra and the Manila Chamber Orchestra and as a first violinist
of the Manila Symphony Orchestra. She graduated from the University of the
Philippines College of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in violin in
1998. Since then she has served on the faculty of the University of the
Philippines College of Music in the Strings & Chamber Music Department.
In 1978 she won Third Prize in the National Music Competition for Young
Artists (NAMCYA) in the solo violin category. In 1991 she won First Prize
winner in the Mozart Competition in the Strings Department at the University
of the Philippines College of Music. She is also the founding first violinist
of the Athenaeum String Quartet. In November 2007 she joined the City Chamber
Orchestra of Hong Kong.
