The City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong (CCOHK) holds a unique position as one of the most active chamber orchestras in the Asian region. Comprising an international group of professional musicians living in Hong Kong and Asia, the CCOHK gives an annual subscription series of concerts with local and internationally renowned artists in a wide range of venues from the concert hall to churches. The orchestra’s programming embraces a diverse repertoire from Baroque to contemporary Chinese compositions and newly-commissioned works. The annual family programmes such as The Snowman & The Bear and The Magic Jungle are also a special part of the orchestra’s mission to bring classical music to young audiences.

On tour the CCOHK has made its mark at the Thirteenth Mostra Biennale di Liuteria nel Mezzogiorno Festival in Ortona, Italy and in Chengdu, China for the 10th Anniversary celebrations of the establishment of the HKSAR. In Hong Kong the CCOHK has performed for the Fifth Asia-Pacific Harmonica Festival, Le French May, Italy: Quality & Lifestyle Festival, the Hong Kong International Arts Carnival, the Hong Kong International Piano Competition and RTHK Radio 4’s annual Christmas concerts in Hong Kong Park televised by RTHK.

Currently in its twelfth season, the CCOHK has performed with a number of distinguished artists including Sir Thomas Allen, Dame Emma Kirkby, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Michala Petri, Alexander Rudin, Michael Chance, Daniel Binelli, Cristina Ortiz, Takako Nishizaki, Lu Si-qing, Pascal Rogé, Roger Woodward, Giovanni Sollima, Claude Delangle, Sharon Bezaly, Robert Bonfiglio, Katherine Jenkins, Catrin Finch and Vladimir Ashkenazy. The CCOHK has also collaborated with famous local and international pop stars including Robin Gibb, Aska, Jacky Cheung, Sandy Lam, Joe Junior and Olivia Newton-John. In 2003 the Hong Kong Arts Development Council honoured the CCOHK with the “Rising Artist Award” in recognition of its outstanding contribution to music in Hong Kong. The CCOHK broadcasts regularly on RTHK Radio 4 and has made appearances on television in Hong Kong, mainland China, Australia and Spain.
